Nigeria does not currently allow diaspora voting. You cannot vote from abroad in Nigerian elections. To vote in the 2027 elections, you must return to Nigeria and vote in person at your registered polling unit.

TRAVEL HOME TO VOTE
Register or transfer your voter registration before the deadline. Check your polling unit assignment on the INEC voters portal before you travel — you must vote at the unit where you are registered.

CVR (Continuous Voter Registration) allows you to register while visiting Nigeria. Your PVC (Permanent Voter Card) stays valid indefinitely once issued — register now so you are ready for 2027.

ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE
Join advocacy for diaspora voting rights. Bills have been introduced in the National Assembly. Contact your National Assembly representatives to push for diaspora voting provisions in future electoral legislation.
HISTORY & STATUS
TRANSFER YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION
If you are registered in one state but have since moved, you can transfer your voter registration to a different ward during CVR (Continuous Voter Registration) periods.
- You can transfer your voter registration to a different ward within CVR periods
- Visit an INEC office in person, or use the online portal
- Bring your existing PVC and proof of new address
FIND YOUR POLLING UNIT
If you are returning to Nigeria to vote, look up your polling unit before you travel. You must vote at the polling unit where you are registered — you cannot vote elsewhere.
