WHO CAN OBSERVE
DOMESTIC OBSERVERS
Nigerian citizens, civil society organisations, and registered NGOs. Must be accredited by INEC before election day.
INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS
Foreign nationals and international organisations (AU, ECOWAS, UN, EU, Commonwealth). Apply through INEC or respective organisations.
PARTY AGENTS
Registered political parties may deploy agents to monitor polling units. Governed by party mandate, not INEC accreditation.
HOW TO GET ACCREDITED
WHAT OBSERVERS CAN DO
PERMITTED
- Observe voting, accreditation, and counting from a designated position
- Record incidents in your observer log
- Request clarification from the Presiding Officer (not to interfere)
- Submit formal report to INEC and your organisation
NOT PERMITTED
- Touch voting materials or the BVAS machine
- Speak to voters or instruct them
- Campaign for any candidate or party
- Remain in the polling unit after results are announced (unless counting still in progress)
